China - land of the tall tale. (Although in this case it?s more of a medium sized tale since pears trees generally don?t grow very high.) What are we getting at? Well, it seems that one day many, many years ago, a monk was walking through a market begging for food. He came upon a man with a wheelbarrow filled to the rail with fresh juicy pears. The monk stopped and asked the man if he might have one pear to curb his hunger pangs. The man, who was very haughty, foolishly told the holy man to move along, that he had worked hard for the pears and had no intention of giving one away to a lazy monk. The monk asked again explaining that he had eschewed the trappings of the material world and as such had no money, but could offer a blessing in return. The man stood his ground and still wouldn?t give him a pear.

By this time a crowd had gathered. Everyone was astonished at the greediness of the pear seller. Finally, an old man bought a pear and handed it to the monk. The monk took the pear, began eating it and said, "Since you have been so kind." He paused to continue munching. "Since you have been so kind to me old man, I?m going to share all the pears I have here with everyone assembled." The crowd was dumbfounded. Hadn?t the monk just begged for only one pear? Once he had finished the fruit, the monk dug a small hole and placed a pear seed in it. He opened his water flask and gently poured some water over it. Within the next few minutes, a sprout appeared. Minutes later and a fully formed pear tree stood before the astonished gathering. The monk pulled the fruit off piece by piece, handing them out to every man, woman and child. Once they were all gone he picked up the tree, balanced it over his shoulder and walked off. The crowd dispersed. The pear merchant turned back to begin selling pears but to his astonishment not a single one remained in his wheelbarrow. Also missing was one of the wheelbarrow?s wooden arms.
What do you think happened? Did the monk build a miraculous tree from the man?s pears and wheelbarrow arm? Did the crowd walk off with the fruit? Who knows? All that can be said is that pears are delicious and heir ability to add lift and punch to tea and herbal tea blends is magical! The mellow tart character of the fruit adds juicy notes and blends well with almost anything. It wouldn?t be a tall tale to say that including them in your lineup may increase sales!

Steeping Instructions

PRODUCT TYPE: Loose - Herbal Tea

IDEAL BREWING TEMPERATURE: 100ºC/212ºF

ANTIOXIDANT BENEFIT: For a greater antioxidant benefit brew longer and use more tea.

FOOD SAFETY ADVISORY: We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today's water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.

Epic Iced Tea Instructions

Tea isn't just served hot!  Iced tea is one of the most refreshing and natural thirst quenchers around the world.  Here is our suggested method of brewing the best iced tea.

ICED TEA BREWING METHOD (Pitcher): (To Make 1 Liter/Quart):

1. Place 6 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose tea or 6 tea bags into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher.
2. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups/315ml over the tea.
3. Steep for 5 minutes.
4. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water.
5. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the tea or removing the bags.
6. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.
7. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to increase
8. the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.

Note: Some luxury quality teas may turn cloudy when poured over ice. This is a sign of luxury quality and nothing to worry about.

1. Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea or 1 tea bag into a teapot for each serving required.
2. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 6-7oz/170-200ml per serving over the tea.
3. Cover and let steep for 5 minutes.
4. Add hot tea to a 12oz/375ml acrylic glass filled with ice, straining the tea or removing the bags.
5. Not all of the tea will fit, allowing for approximately an additional ½ serving.
6. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to increase the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted.

Note: Some luxury quality teas may turn cloudy when poured over ice. This is a sign of luxury quality and nothing to worry about.

4. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water.
5. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the tea or removing the tea bags.
6. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste.
7. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced herb & fruit tea is to increase the strength of hot brew since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.
